Fields of Transcendence ®

Fields of Transcendence describes The Dialogue Game taken to a new level of application. It is based on discoveries on the cutting edge of science that tell how quantum realities affect our concrete, social reality. When we appreciate what the new science is telling us about our universe, we can approach Dialogue with a new sense of potency.

Here are some of these scientific principles and precepts:

The Observer Effect

The Observer Effect (often confused with the Heisenberg Uncertainly Principle) states that the presence of an observer changes the path of an electron. As we we'll see when surveying the Intention Experiments, this has opened a new range of possibilities in how far consciousness can shape gross, physical reality. If the presence of one observer can change subatomic reality -- thus altering gross reality slightly -- what might be the effect of a group of minds linked and made coherent through the practice of Dialogue?

Holographic Paradigm

Karl Pribram theorized the brain is a holographic instrument decoding a holographic reality---only after inspiration from David Bohm's writings. This paradigm revolutionized our view brain function, opened up new avenues of research, and now expands our perspective on the art of Dialogue.

Zero Point Field

The Zero Point Field (ZPF) is a basic substratum of quantum reality. Originally eliminated from quantum equations, it's now used to explain the curious way subatomic particles gain and lose energy, constantly winking in and out of existence. Resembling the Void of Buddhist thinking -- the basic ground of existence out of which all phenomena arise, into which all decay -- ZPF raises interesting questions about the origin of thoughts. (Where do they come from? Where do they go?) ZPF may help us better apprehend the sudden flashes of insight characteristic of Dialogue.

Chaos Theory

Chaos Theory explains, through a simple series of equations, phenomena that otherwise seem turbulent and chaotic. Defining the action of attractors and strange attractors helps reveal the unified, harmonic systems underlying apparently chaotic phenomena. The butterfly effect states that the beating of a butterfly's wings in Brazil will change weather patterns in the North Atlantic. In its simplest terms, Chaos Theory underscores the interconnectedness of all phenomena.

Since the process of Dialogue may appear chaotic on the surface –– having no fixed agenda, predictable path, or set goal –– the science of Chaos may help us apprehend the underlying patterns, and thus benefit more from the process.

Intention Experiments

The Intention Experiment by Lynne McTaggart describes scientific research that builds on the discovery of the Zero Point Field. She recounts experiments by reputable scientists working in prestigious universities and research organizations. This research explores the relationship between mind and matter, confounding our Newtonian cosmology of discrete physical objects influencing each other only through mechanical force. Here are a few highlights to whet your appetite:

Human consciousness changes the working of computers.

Human beings are transceivers.

Human fields interact.

Fields of Transcendence

To engage in Dialogue is to transcend our limited selves and think as a team. When a Dialogue team considers how the results of its actions will affect the larger world, they transcend their personal benefit to serve the larger whole. When we use Dialogue to change our own thinking, we also change the thinking of Humanity.

For more on this subject, see Rules of The Dialogue Game, scheduled for publication in early 2010. The final chapter is entitled Fields of Transcendence. It will be available for sale on this website.

Workshops

Following the publication of Rules of The Dialogue Game, we will offer workshops and trainings based on these principles. If you would like to be notified when the book and workshops are available, use this link to join our mailing list:
