There is a growing movement in this country, and around the world, to educate children at home. Whatever their ideological, religious, or spiritual perspective, homeschoolers feel that many public schools have a poor record of providing a quality education for all students.Using a variety of philosphical approaches and curriculum materials, they choose to educate their children at home. Literature on the subject shows that not only are these children well-adapted socially, but they often surpass public school students their own age by many years. And more and more students schooled at home are being admitted into prestigious Universities.
The Dialogue Game offers homeschoolers a means to deepen the experience of community. Whatever benefits are to be gained by personalizing an education at home, their are distinct advantages to be gained from learning from and with others.
A mind educated in isolation is a mind relatively limited in perspectives and possiblities. A mind which enjoys an rich exchange with others in an atmosphere of mutual respect is a mind relatively rich in perspectives and possibilities.
We are reaching out to homeschoolers -- parents, students, tutors -- inviting them to learn to engage in dialogue. Each one who embodies the practice and philosophy of dialogue becomes a life-long learner, and can help others to do the same.
